Surface water can contain bacteria, viruses, parasites, amoebae and organic contamination. A simple filter is not sufficient. At WM aquatec we essentially use technologies similar to those of public water utilities, which supply millions of people with drinking water. Except that we have far less space available and implement these technologies in the smallest space – namely in your vehicle. Our 6-stage system was developed precisely for this extreme case.

WM Filter (Kaskadenfilter)
Our pre-filtration systems for expeditions feed the filtered water directly (at up to 10 litres per minute) into the water tank, ensuring supply even outside civilisation. They remove dirt particles, turbidity and even single-celled organisms such as amoebae, which can sometimes be difficult to kill with disinfectants. An additional connection enables the treatment of tap water through the system.

DEXDA Plus
DEXDA® Plus is the disinfectant for safe drinking water. It combats pathogens: viruses, germs, fungi and bacteria (e.g. Legionella, E. coli, etc.) and provides an excellent first disinfection stage when treating surface water. The active ingredient sodium hypochlorite is also used by public water utilities in line with the current German Drinking Water Ordinance (TrinkwV).

Silbernetz Flex
Silbernetz Flex automatically protects the water in the tank from (further) contamination and effectively prevents biofilm formation (sliminess). Over time, silver ions even reduce the germ count. Each time the tank is refilled, silver ions are dosed automatically and self-regulating into the freshly filled water. This keeps the water preserved for up to 6 months.

Aktivkohle-Element
The activated carbon filter removes pollutants and taste substances by adsorption onto the activated carbon. These include pesticides, some heavy metals, odour substances from biological decomposition, pharmaceutical residues and chlorine. With its 10 µm (0.01 mm) filter fineness, it also protects the downstream disinfection technologies such as the UV-8 disinfection units or sterile filters from dirt and suspended particles.

The UV-disinfection units of the UV-8 series provide fully automatic water disinfection and were developed specifically for use in expedition vehicles. They switch on automatically when water is drawn off and guarantee, with disinfection rates of up to 99.999%, hygienically perfect water worldwide – maintenance-free, environmentally friendly and chemical-free.

The final touch for the best possible drinking water quality: the combi filter element combines filtration, adsorption and disinfection. The downstream sterile filtration with its 0.15 µm filter fineness guarantees a bacterial retention of > 99.9999% – drinking water quality guaranteed.
