A particle filter typically has 20-50 micrometer pore size. Bacteria are only 0.2-5 micrometers – they pass through unhindered.

Recommended hygiene standard
Hygiene standard based on DIN 2001-2: A disinfection should be carried out at least once a year, as well as before or after holidays in southern or non-European regions. Descaling protects the boiler and metal parts and is needed one to four times a year, depending on the length of the trip and the water quality.
